Diverse + city = a youth club for the culturally curious

Are you a secondary school student passionate about community service but struggle to get funding for anything more exciting than elderly visits?

Do you wonder why the UN never ever seems to escalate beyond strongly-worded statements?

Do you ever wonder if the values you hold are truly your own or just products of your culture? Well, that got kind of dark.

If any of these sound like you, good news: DiverCity is just the youth club for you!

Who are we?

A portmanteau of the words “diverse” and “city”, we are a student-led youth club for secondary school students to learn about other cultures and solve global problems. Using transformational workshops, project incubation and peer-driven initiatives, we connect young people across different backgrounds and abilities, as well as prepare diverse youth to lead positive change in the future.

The most treasured values in DiverCity are “inclusivity”, “curiosity” and “agency”. In DiverCity, everyone is welcomed and respected. We encourage everyone to get excited about other cultures and perspectives. Be ready to change our minds in activities, while demonstrating real impact through the initiatives.

What do we do?

1. Cultural events with international from 110+ countries
2. Changemaker Fund for members to launch their own community initiatives

Membership system

1. Regular member track:
   • Explorer: Attends 3 events per year.
   • Ambassador: Organises 1 mini-initiative in one’s school.
   • Changemaker: Uses our Changemaker Fund to organise a cross-school event or a Hong Kong wide event.
2. Committee members
   Positions include: President, Membership Secretary, External Relations Officer, Marketing Officer, Treasurer
